Lorrie Etchason | Certified Instructor
Lorrie has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years. She began her fitness career working for Jack La Lane in his health clubs and she also worked for La Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, and Gold's Gym. From the beginning she loved the energy and interaction with her students when teaching group exercise classes including High Impact Aerobics, Step, and Floor Conditioning classes. She is certified with AFAA (Aerobic Fitness Association of America) and Spin Certified with Interactive Fitness Trainers of America.
Shortly after having two children Lorrie took a break from teaching to focus on her family. During this time she became an avid runner completing seven marathons and numerous races. As runners often do she developed back pain from the impact combined with not stretching before and after her runs. At one point her pain was so excruciating her physician recommended surgery. She feared she would have to give up running forever. She tried everything from pain medication, physical therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic to heal her back. During this time Pilates Plus opened in Palm Springs and she thought she would give it a try since her doctor recommended stretching to help ease the pain. She immediately loved it! The classes were fun, challenging, and involved valuable stretching time. Within in two months she noticed she didn't need the pain medicine. She was becoming stronger, especially in her core, leaner, and most of all she was feeling better. She went back to her doctor and he advised her to continue what she was doing because it seemed to be working. Shortly after her visit she was able to complete another marathon!
Lorrie's personal experience and passion for health and fitness motivated her to become a System Dymanique certified pilates instructor. It is this same enthusiasm and love of fitness that are apparent in her teaching style. Students at every level from novice to advanced find her classes to be motivating, fun, and challenging. She makes everyone feel comfortable and challenged to their ability level.
